Question & Answer With My 7 Year Old Sister:
Coral: How do you get through a bad day?
Mikaya: Not talk to the person that was mean to me. I hide under my covers in my bed. That's it.
Coral: What do you think you should say or do to someone who is mean to you?
Mikaya: Say, "Stop it," and then say, "Can you be a little nicer to me?"
Coral: What makes you happy?
Mikaya: Disneyland and camping with my family.
Coral: What do you think is most important in life?
Mikaya: Being with my family.
Coral: What do you think it feels like to fall in love?
Mikaya: (Screams) This is not cool. (She doesn't like talking about love/dating)
Coral: How do you decide who to marry?
Mikaya: You have to decide if it's the right person or not. You have to date with them and see what they're like.
Coral: What do you think makes a good friend?
Mikaya: They're your kind of person.
Coral: What's that mean?
Mikaya: You act kind of the same as them.
Coral: At what age is a person an adult?
Mikaya: About 22. So you're almost an adult.
Coral: What is something that makes your family special?
Mikaya: It's my family! And they go everywhere with me and they're kind to me and they love me.
Coral: If you could change one thing about the world, what would you change?
Mikaya: No bugs, except bees without their stingers because they help the plants grow.
Coral: Are you a good friend?
Mikaya: Yeah, of course!
Coral: Why do you think so?
Mikaya: Because I have a whole bunch of friends.
Coral: Would you cheat on a test if you knew you would not get caught?
Mikaya: No, of course not. I don't like cheating.
Coral: If you could grow up to be famous, what would you be famous for?
Mikaya: I'd be a famous artist.
Coral: If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?
Mikaya: I would eat all of the cookies and not do my homework.
Coral: What is the hardest thing about being a kid?
Mikaya: That you have to do homework.
Coral: If you were a teacher and the students weren't listening to you, what would you do?
Mikaya: Yell at them.
Coral: If you could travel back in time three years and visit your younger self, what advice would you give yourself?
Mikaya: That doesn't make sense.
Coral: What do you think would be the hardest thing about being blind?
Mikaya: You can't see and you can't walk that well. You have to have someone to help you!
Coral: What do you like about being a kid?
Mikaya: I like playing with my brother and sisters.
Coral: What do you think you'll be doing 10 years from now?
Mikaya: Probably doing your stuff.
Coral: What's that mean?
Mikaya: What you're doing, like getting a job or something.
Coral: What do you think makes a person good-looking?
Mikaya: Uhhh, I don't know.
Question & Answer With My 9 Year Old Sister:
Coral: How do you get through a bad day?
Avery: Well, I go to my room and pray about it and usually when you're here I come and talk to you and you basically make my day. Or I hang out with Miles.
Coral: What do you think you should say or do to someone who is mean to you?
Avery: You should treat them nicely and try that out for awhile and if they don't, kind of mellow out, then tell your mom or tell your teacher. Mom knows what to say so she helps me know what to say.
Coral: What makes you happy?
Avery: My family. Miles, you, and Mikaya make me laugh. I like when mom and dad hold me. I probably won't ever grow too old for that, until I'm actually too heavy.
Coral: What do you think is most important in life?
Avery: My family and the gospel.
Coral: What do you think it feels like to fall in love?
Avery: Excuse me. I don't really know. I've never even had a crush on someone, except for in kindergarten. It must feel kind of like you have to do everything with them and if they like someone else you're kind of heart broken.
Coral: How do you decide who to marry?
Avery: I like when they're funny and they have a good sense of humor. And another thing is that they help you and would they do anything for you. They wouldn't try to make you do anything bad like smoke or drink alcohol. If they try to make you do those bad things, then they don't truly love you.
Coral: What do you think makes a good friend?
Avery: Funny, kind, can tell you basically anything.
Coral: What does that mean? That they can tell you basically anything?
Avery: I had a friend and she could basically tell me everything that she couldn't tell anyone else. Kind of like a sister but a little less.
Coral: At what age is a person an adult?
Avery: 18
Coral: What is something that makes your family special
Avery: I can tell them anything and they're very comforting. I've got a love for them more than anyone else.
Coral: If you could change one thing about the world, what would you change?
Avery: Bugs! Except I'd leave the ladybugs and butterflies. I'd make the robbers good.
Coral: Are you a good friend?
Avery: Yes, I'm pretty sure, because I'm funny and I care about them. I'm kind. I kind of help them to be better people.
Coral: Do you sometimes think you're not a good friend? Why?
Avery: Sometimes I'm kind of bossy.
Coral: Would you cheat on a test if you knew you would not get caught?
Avery: No, I wouldn't.
Coral: Why not?
Avery: Because I'm a good person and would try to think of things from my mind.
Coral: If you could grow up to be famous, what would you be famous for?
Avery: Soccer and the piano. And tennis, on the Wii. I'm good at tennis on the Wii. I've got all the high scores.
Coral: If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?
Avery: I'd play pranks on my sisters and brother!
Coral: What is the hardest thing about being a kid?
Avery: You can't buy all the things you want, and most of the time you don't get what you want.
Coral: What things do you not get that you want?
Avery: A new scooter, a new bike. Actually I like my bike. All the lego friends lego sets. I don't get to go to the beach with my best buddies all the time, like every week. I don't get the big fluffy jabba the hut stuffed animal.
Coral: Do you think adults get to do and buy whatever they want?
Avery: Yes.
Coral: If you were a teacher and your students weren't listening to you, what would you do?
Avery: I don't know. I'd call the principle and the kids moms.
Coral: If you could travel back in time three years and visit your younger self, what advice would you give yourself?
Avery: I'd ask myself advice, because I used to be kinder to my sister and we loved each other like sisters should do. I'd ask myself how to be a better sister.
Coral: What do you think would be the hardest thing about being blind?
Avery: I couldn't see the beautiful world and my beautiful families faces.
Coral: What do you like about being a kid?
Avery: You can jump around and wear plastic bags.
Coral: What do you think you'll be doing 10 years from now?
Avery: Well then I'd be 20 right?
Coral: You'd be 19. So what do you think you'll be doing?
Avery: Dating. I would be right? I'd be awesome at piano and soccer. I'd be going to college and Miles (our brother) would be 12! That's amazing isn't it? I'll be 19 and Miles will be 12.
Coral: What do you think makes a person good-looking?
Avery: I don't know really. It just comes to my senses. I don't know how to explain it!
